SMS Terms and Conditions

The short version

If you give us your mobile number and say yes to texts, K&J Shine Works sends you messages about your own appointment: a confirmation when you book, a reminder the day before, a note when the tech is on the way to a mobile job, and a message when your vehicle is ready for pickup.

That is the whole program. We do not send coupons, promotions, newsletters, or marketing blasts by text, and we do not text people who have not booked with us.

What you will receive

• Appointment confirmation. Service, date, time, and whether it is at our shop or at your address.
• Reminder. Usually the day before, with anything you need to do first, like clearing personal items out of the vehicle.
• Tech on the way. For mobile jobs, sent when we leave for your address, with an ETA.
• Vehicle ready. Sent when the detail is finished, with pickup location, our closing time, and the balance due.
• Follow-up on that job. Cure-time instructions after a ceramic coating, or a note if weather forces us to move a mobile appointment.

Messages are sent one at a time by a real event on a real booking, during business hours, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central.

How you opt in

Texting is always your choice, it is never a condition of getting your vehicle detailed, and it never happens automatically. There are four ways it can start, and all four require you to say yes.

1. Booking online. On our online booking page there is a checkbox, unchecked when the page loads, that reads: “Yes, text this number with my appointment updates. By checking this box, I agree to receive transactional SMS messages from KJ Shineworks related to my appointment: confirmations, reminders, and tech on the way alerts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.” Leave it unchecked and we will not text you. Your booking goes through either way.
2. Booking by phone. When you call (319) 677-2890 and we set your appointment, we ask whether that number is a good one to text appointment updates to, and we tell you that message and data rates may apply and that you can reply STOP at any time. We only mark the number textable if you say yes.
3. In person at the shop. Our printed intake sheet has a line where you write your mobile number and sign for appointment texts. If you leave it blank, we do not text you.
4. By message on Facebook or TikTok. If you start a conversation with us about booking and give us a mobile number, we ask the same consent question in the thread and only text you after you answer yes.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies, because it follows your appointment rather than a schedule. A typical single detail is two to five messages from booking to pickup. Customers on the maintenance program get that same handful of messages around each visit.

K&J Shine Works does not charge you anything for these messages. Your own carrier may: message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure.

Stopping the texts

Reply STOP to any message from us and the texts stop. You will get one final message confirming it, and after that nothing. You can also just tell us: call (319) 677-2890 or email Hello@KJShineworks.com and we will take the number off.

Stopping the texts does not cancel your appointment or change your service in any way. We will call you with appointment updates instead.

Reply HELP to any message and you will get our name and phone number back. For anything real, call (319) 677-2890, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central. If you want texts again later, just say so at your next booking.

Your number and your privacy

We collect your mobile number to run your appointment: to confirm it, to tell you when we are on the way, and to tell you when your vehicle is ready.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. We do not sell, rent, or trade your phone number.

The only parties that touch your number are the service providers who make the booking and the messages work on our behalf, and they are not permitted to use it for anything else.

Delivery and carriers

Message delivery depends on your mobile carrier, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. A text is a convenience, not a guarantee: if a message matters and you have not seen it, call us at (319) 677-2890.

Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and most US regional carriers. Service may not be available on every carrier or every plan.

Questions, and changes to these terms

K&J Shine Works, 842 Vernon Valley Dr Ste 4, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403. Call (319) 677-2890 or email Hello@KJShineworks.com.

If we change how our texting works, we will update this page. Continuing to accept our texts after a change means the updated terms apply. Anything you disagree with, reply STOP and the whole question goes away.
