Privacy Policy

We collect what it takes to detail your vehicle and reach you about it. Nothing else, and nobody buys it from us.

Who we are

K&J Shine Works is a trade name of Pineland, LLC, operating an auto detailing shop at 842 Vernon Valley Dr Ste 4, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403, and mobile detailing around the Cedar Rapids metro. In this policy, we and us mean that business.

This policy covers three places your information can reach us: this website, including the online booking page; the phone, email, and social messages you send us; and the shop itself when you drop a vehicle off.

What this website does not do

Worth saying first, because most privacy policies bury it. As of the date at the bottom of this page, kjshineworks.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or social media pixels. There is no Google Analytics here, no Meta pixel, no session recording, no cross-site profile of you. Even the fonts are served from our own domain rather than fetched from Google, so nobody learns you were here just because a typeface loaded.

The one measurement we would ever consider is a plain page counter: it records which page was opened and which link sent you, with no cookie, no stored identifier and no profile, and it respects a Do Not Track setting in your browser. That is the ceiling, not a starting point.

Our host, Vercel, keeps ordinary server logs of requests to the site, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. That is standard for any website and is not something we look at to identify visitors.

The booking page is the exception

Our online booking page embeds a scheduling tool run by Mobile Service Sync. Inside that box, their software sets its own cookies to keep your session going and to block bots. Those cookies come from them, not from us, and they only appear on that one page.

None of them are advertising cookies, so we do not put a consent banner in your way for something that only makes a booking form work. If you would rather not load it at all, call us at (319) 677-2890 and we will book the appointment the old way.

What we collect, and why

  • Your name, phone, and email. To confirm the appointment and reach you about the vehicle.
  • A service address, for mobile jobs. Because we have to drive to it.
  • Your license plate and state. The booking tool looks the plate up to get the year, make, and model, so we quote for the right size vehicle instead of guessing. We keep the vehicle details; the lookup itself is run by the booking provider.
  • What you asked us to do, and notes about the vehicle's condition, so the tech who works on it knows what they are walking into.
  • Photos of the vehicle. Before and after, for our own quality records and, unless you tell us not to, for our website and social media. See the Terms of Service for how to opt out, which you can do at any time.
  • A record that you paid. Card payments are handled by our payment provider on their equipment. We see that a payment succeeded and for how much. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Whether you said yes to texts, and when. That consent record exists because carriers require it.

We do not ask for, and have no use for, your date of birth, your social security number, your driver's license number, or your income. If a form ever asks you for those on our behalf, something is wrong: call us.

Text messages

Texting is optional, it is never a condition of service, and it only ever covers your own appointment. The full detail lives on our SMS terms page, including how to stop.

The part that belongs here: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.

Who else sees it

A short list, and it is the whole list. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job, and none of them are allowed to use your information for their own marketing.

  • Our booking platform, Mobile Service Sync, which holds your appointment, vehicle, and contact details.
  • Our text messaging provider, which delivers the appointment messages to your carrier.
  • Our payment provider, which processes the card and holds the card data we never touch.
  • Our website host, Vercel, which serves these pages.
  • Law enforcement or a court, if we are legally required to, which has not happened.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers, lead aggregators, or advertisers. Nobody has ever paid us for a customer list and nobody is going to.

How long we keep it

Customer and vehicle records stay as long as you are a customer and for a reasonable period after, because knowing what we did to your paint two years ago is genuinely useful the next time you come in, especially on a coated vehicle. Payment and tax records are kept for as long as Iowa and federal tax rules require.

Ask us to delete your record and we will, other than anything we have to keep for tax or legal reasons. If you have a ceramic coating with us, deleting the service history may make a future warranty conversation harder, and we will tell you that before we do it.

What you can ask us to do

You do not need a statute to make a reasonable request of a local business. Call (319) 677-2890 or email Hello@KJShineworks.com and we will:

  • Tell you what we have on file for you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your record, within the limits above.
  • Stop texting you, immediately, no questions.
  • Take your vehicle's photos off our website and social media, and stop using them.

We will confirm you are who you say you are before we act on a request about someone's vehicle or phone number, which usually just means calling you back on the number we have.

Children, security, and changes

This is a detailing business. Our services are for adults, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us something, tell us and it goes.

We protect your information with the care a small business can honestly promise: access limited to the people doing the work, reputable providers for booking, payment, and messaging, and no hoarding of data we have no use for. No business can promise a system is unbreakable, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
